Rector

The Reverend F. Allan Weatherholt, Jr., Rector

Rector of St. Thomas' Parish since 1980, Father Weatherholt is married to the Rev. Anne O. Weatherholt, Rector of St. Mark's Church, Lappans, Maryland. They have two sons, Daniel and Stephen. Father Weatherholt is a graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary, and before coming to Hancock, he previously served as Assistant Rector of St. John's Church, Hagerstown, and the Church of the Epiphany, Timonium, Maryland, and as Director of the Youth Ministry at Emmanuel Parish, Cumberland, Maryland. Father Weatherholt also serves as Chaplain to the Maryland State Police Barracks in Hagerstown, and to the Hancock Police Department, as well as serving once a month on Sunday evenings as Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in nearby Buck Valley, Pennsylvania.

Deacon

The Rev. McCarty is a retired Maryland State Police Sergeant and works with the Washington County Sheriff's Department. Former Lay Associate at Saint Thomas', he is now serving as Deacon at the Church of the Transfiguration in Braddock Heights, Maryland. Rev. McCarty's spouse is Melanie, and they have two sons, Rhett and Cade.

Verger and Office Administrator

Mr. Donald L. Houck, Verger and Office Administrator

Mr. Houck the Verger and Office Administrator of St. Thomas'. Don is a member of the Verger's Guild of the Episcopal Church. Before relocating to the area, he previously held various office and administrative positions in the Washington, DC area, and at the University of Maryland, College Park where he was an Academic Advisor and an English Professor. He now resides in nearby Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.

Mrs. J. Gwynne Cavey, Minister of Music

Minister of Music at Saint Thomas' Parish since 1985, Mrs. Cavey is well-known in the tri-state area as a local piano instructor. Mrs. Cavey also plays the harp and has performed at various events in the community. She has directed several choirs and choral groups in the community including our own Saint Thomas' Parish Choir. Mrs. Cavey's spouse is John and they have three daughters Kelly, Virginia, and Alexis.

Assistant Organist

Mr. Daniel O. Weatherholt, Associate Organist

Currently an undergraduate Music Major at Frostburg State University, Mr. Weatherholt has studied Organ since he was 12 with instructors including Mr. Mark King and Dr. Clair Johannsen both of Hagerstown, and currently with Mr. Mark Steiner and Dr. Joan DeVee Dixon, both faculty at Frostburg State University. He is also a member of the American Guild of Organists. After receiving his Bachelor's Degree, Mr. Weatherholt hopes to pursue a Master's Degree in Church Music. Mr. Weatherholt has been called to be the Minister of Music at St. John's Frostburg as of the Fall of 2006.
